Hey, I’m Annie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and the founder of Calma.

Hi, I’m Annie, a licensed marriage and family therapist based in California and an English and Spanish speaker. I’ve spent over a decade working in mental health across multiple levels of care, including acute psychiatric environments, outpatient treatment, and educational settings. Today, I run Calma, a therapy and wellness practice for high-functioning women who are learning to live with less anxiety and more regulation.

I became a therapist long before I had language for what I was doing. As the eldest daughter in a Hispanic family, I learned early how to anticipate needs, mediate tension, and hold things together. Being a therapist does not exempt me from being human. In many ways, it made me more honest about my own healing. I am a therapist, but I am human first, learning how to live slower, softer, and more regulated in my own life.

Clinically, I help women navigate anxiety, burnout, boundary-setting, and the complexities of relationships. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with wellness-informed practices and practical tools that make emotional health feel doable in real life. I care deeply about making therapy feel accessible, culturally attuned, and shame-free.

Outside the therapy room, I genuinely enjoy wellness and practice nervous system regulation through movement, slow mornings, and intentional self-care. You will often find me on a mindfulness walk with a matcha or iced latte, exploring new restaurants, reading or writing Substack articles, or spending time in farmers markets and trying new coffee shops. Anything in the world of health, self-care, and well-being tends to get my attention.

I believe in helping women build lives that feel more livable, not just more productive, and in supporting the parts of us that are tired of holding everything together alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy can be supportive during periods of change, stress, or emotional overwhelm, even if nothing feels “wrong.” It offers a dedicated space to slow down, reflect, and gain insight as you navigate life.

People seek therapy for many reasons — life transitions, relationship changes, burnout, shifting roles, or simply wanting support during seasons that feel both meaningful and overwhelming.

You don’t have to wait for a breaking point to ask for support.

  • The first session is a time to get oriented, talk about what brings you to therapy, and begin co-creating goals together. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. This is a supportive space to meet you where you are.

  • Just yourself. A private, quiet space for your session is helpful. If you’d like, you can bring questions or notes, but there’s no requirement to prepare ahead of time.

  • Therapy at Calma is integrative and individualized. Rather than using a one size fits all approach, sessions are tailored to your needs, goals, and lived experiences.

My work is informed by evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), DBT informed skills, attachment based and relational work, mindfulness based practices, and trauma informed care. Therapy is also culturally responsive and attentive to the ways identity, background, and life context shape your experience.

The focus is always on meeting you where you are and adjusting the approach as you grow.
