Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy can be supportive during periods of change, stress, or emotional overwhelm, even if nothing feels “wrong.” It offers a dedicated space to slow down, reflect, and gain insight as you navigate life.
People seek therapy for many reasons — life transitions, relationship changes, burnout, shifting roles, or simply wanting support during seasons that feel both meaningful and overwhelming.
You don’t have to wait for a breaking point to ask for support.
-
The first session is a time to get oriented, talk about what brings you to therapy, and begin co-creating goals together. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. This is a supportive space to meet you where you are.
-
Just yourself. A private, quiet space for your session is helpful. If you’d like, you can bring questions or notes, but there’s no requirement to prepare ahead of time.
-
Therapy at Calma is integrative and individualized. Rather than using a one size fits all approach, sessions are tailored to your needs, goals, and lived experiences.
My work is informed by evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), DBT informed skills, attachment based and relational work, mindfulness based practices, and trauma informed care. Therapy is also culturally responsive and attentive to the ways identity, background, and life context shape your experience.
The focus is always on meeting you where you are and adjusting the approach as you grow.
-
A complimentary 15-minute consultation is offered prior to beginning services to answer questions and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.

Calma accepts select insurance plans and also offers private pay services. If you are seeking therapy using insurance, options will be discussed during the consultation to determine the most appropriate pathway for care and coverage.
